Rugged. Reliable. Responsible. These are the qualities you demand for your temporary spot cooling challenges. Meeting these expectations is vital to our reputation. This is why when it comes to portable air-conditioning units, there’s one brand that stands out above the rest.

With more than 60 years of being a leading portable air-conditioning manufacturer, Koldwave has dealt with every issue imaginable when it comes to portable air-conditioning. Their current engineering is the result of thousands of incremental design improvements to make each unit rugged, reliable, and responsible.

Air Cooled Air Conditioners

Air-Cooled portable air conditioners are intended to be rolled into a room near the source of the heat. For spot cooling applications, you point the nozzles at the spot that you want to keep cool. For room cooling applications, the nozzle direction is not as important. Since the air conditioner is inside or near the space requiring cooling, you must duct out the warm air that the air conditioner produces. In an office environment this is typically done by ducting the condenser air from the top of the unit up to a special ceiling tile that directs the air to the main building cooling system’s return air plenum above the ceiling tiles. As the cool air from the unit offsets the heat being produced in the room, the temperature in the room will begin to drop. The capacity of the unit, the amount of heat being added to the room, and the size of the room will determine how much the temperature will drop.

8CC10BE

The Koldwave 8CC10BE is an innovative, highly adaptable air-cooled portable air conditioner. It acts as the direct upgrade to the brand’s popular, compact legacy “CoolCube” series. What makes the 8CC10BE completely distinct in Koldwave’s lineup is its modular design. Rather than being stuck as a standard rolling floor unit, it is engineered to be transformed using several specialized application kits to solve tight space constraints, particularly in data environments. The 8CC10BE has a cooling capacity of 10,000 BTU/hr.

9HP13BE | 8HP16BE

The Koldwave 9HP13 and 8HP16 series are air-cooled, commercial-grade portable heat pumps. Unlike standard spot coolers that only provide air conditioning, these units are true year-round climate solutions capable of switching between high-capacity cooling and reverse-cycle heating. They are heavily utilized for supplemental or emergency climate control in server rooms, open-air industrial workstations, and healthcare facilities. The 9HP13 has a cooling capacity of 13,200 BTU/hr and a heating capacity of 14,300 BTU/hr while the 8HP16 has a cooling capacity of 16,800 BTU/hr and a heating capacity of 18,500 BTU/hr.

9KK14/17BE

The Koldwave 9KK14 and 9KK17 are commercial-grade, air-cooled portable spot coolers. They are engineered to provide localized, temporary cooling in spaces like offices, laboratories, server rooms, and industrial workstations.

9KK21BF

The Koldwave 9KK21 represents a significant step up in the brand’s air-cooled portable spot cooler lineup. While sharing the exact same rugged, dual-nozzle chassis design as its smaller siblings, the 9KK21 delivers a much higher cooling capacity of 21,000 BTU/hr.

Because of this increased performance, the most critical difference to note is its power requirement: the 9KK21 moves away from standard 115V wall power and requires a 220V electrical circuit.

9KK30BF | 9KK37BF

The 9KK30BF and 9KK37BF are heavy-duty, high-capacity air-cooled portable spot coolers. Stepping up to cooling capacity rates of 28,000 BTU/hr and 36,110 BTU/hr respectively, these systems represent the upper tier of Koldwave’s mobile lineup. These models feature a triple nozzle layout to handle large-scale commercial emergencies, industrial plants, and massive data rooms. Like the 9KK21, these require 220V single phase power.

9KK60BF | 8KK92BH

The 9KK60BF and 8KK92BH epresent the heavy-duty industrial giants of Koldwave’s air-cooled portable lineup. Cranking out insane cooling capacity rates of 60,000 BTU/hr and 91,260 BTU/hr, these massive units are engineered for extreme, large-scale deployments—such as entire factory floors, disaster relief zones, major data center failures, and massive commercial complexes.

The 9KK60BF still operates on 220V single phase power while the 8KK92BH operates on 460V 3 phase power.

Water Cooled Air Conditioners

Water-cooled portable air conditioners are intended to be rolled into a room near the source of the heat. They are intended for room cooling only. Water-cooled units cannot be ducted and do not use nozzles like their air-cooled counterparts. Since the air conditioner is inside the space requiring cooling, you must remove the heat that is produced by the air conditioner. Water cooled units use water instead of air to remove this heat. The unit requires a water supply, water return, and a place to drain condensate. As the cold air from the cooling side of the unit offsets the heat being produced in the room, the temperature in the room begins to drop. The actual temperature drop is determined by the capacity of the unit, the amount of heat being added to the room, and the size of the room.

8WC Series

The Koldwave 8WC Series represents the brand’s modern line of water-cooled portable air conditioners. They are explicitly designed for spaces where traditional air-cooled units won’t work because there is no way to vent hot condenser air (such as interior glass boardrooms, tight server closets, or historical buildings). Cooling capacity ranges from 12,060 BTU/hr with the 8WC12BE to 20,400 BTU/hr with the 8WC24BF.

What is the difference?

Both types of units are totally self contained air conditioners with refrigerant and compressors. Air conditioners need a way to reject the heat from the room. Air-cooled portables use air to reject the heat out of the room by ducting the unit above the ceiling tiles. A water cooled unit uses water to reject the heat. So, there has to be a water supply and a hot water return. This can be accomplished with a chilled water loop, condenser water loop, or process water lobby.
